Saturday - Tuesday - Passport

Tak dneska mi prisel pas zpatky! Oficialne mam pracovni povoleni do Kanady az do listopadu 2014! Proc pisu snad? Protoze koluji zvesti, ze snad bude zruseno povinne turisticke vizum pro obcany Ceske Republiky, coz by mohlo zmenit pravidla i na poli programu Working Holiday pro rok 2014!

Takze ted vizum cislo 2.

I have received my passport today! I'm officially allowed to work in Canada until November 2014! It's unbelievable how I managed it to maintain the visa process exactly on the right date. Oh well at least something went good :-) This year of the Working Holiday program went pretty fast with the visa process. The quote for the Czech Republic went by pretty fast. By mid April were more than 1000 visas requested at the embassy in Prague. There were years when this quantity was taken by September/October. The next visas are probably going to be released next year in January/Februray. Why am I writing 'probably'? Because there is a gossip about the waiving of the need of a travelers visa for the Czechs which could change   also the rules for the Working Holiday program for 2014!

So now I need to get the visa number 2. Maybe I should call it the waiting number 2 :D This year is pretty strange! I'm constantly waiting on something. I hope that by June 2nd I'll know all my end verdicts, because if not then it's going to be pretty sad ...

Game changer

Nase rozhodnuti nekdy dokazi nadelat peknou paseku.

Ted vas muzou napadnout moje viza a co s nima udelam... No tyden se s tydnem sesel a vcera jsem obdrzela vyjadreni kanadske ambasady o schvaleni me zadosti. JUPI!!!

Our decisions can sometimes be a huge game changers. I did one like that! I'm in the last year of getting master's degree in university and for a time I never overtighten subjects between two school years until last year, when I was due to an early departure. I gave up this subject with the fact that I can finish it this year. Unfortunately, I didn't after 2 attempts ... So my diploma thesis is finished and I'm awaiting the decision when my university allows me to attend the state final examinations. Pretty bad, huh? The whole week was I trying to figure out my next steps and this subject is truly a huge game changer for me. However, to give up my degree because of one exam is unthinkable. Therefore I'm fighting for this priority.

Now you can ask how about my visa and what will I do with them ... Week passed since my last post. I received confirmation from Canadian embassy with an approval of my request. Yippee!! (yeah I'm still happy :-) It took exactly 27 days in my case - from applying for the visa until receiving the confirmation e-mail with approval. Now my passport has to arrive at my doorstep with an additional sticker. Meanwhile, I'm waiting on a Form DS-2019 which will allow me to obtain J1 visa to the USA for the summer. So in that case I made it, though it seemed rather unbelievable to obtain both visas in time. Can't wait how this year will develop!

MY visa process

Tedy alespon pro me.

Vizum stale nikde!

To be waiting on a visa is incredibly debilitating. Well, for me. And to make it even worse I'm waiting on two visas :-) Not at one time, but consecutively to two neighboring countries - USA & Canada or Canada & USA. My visa process started when I've sended my passport to the canadian embassy three weeks ago along with 'International Experience Canada' (IEC) visa request:
International Experience Canada enables Czech citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to:
  • stay in Canada for up to one year;
  • legally work in Canada;
  • experience another culture.
3 weeks! It's a huge torture for me, because the embassy has up to 8 weeks to consider my request which should not occur. And so my prayers (among other things) go to the embassy to deal quickly. That I know if I'm going to get it or not.

This amazing program is for 1 year. I hope to have my school done by end of this spring and from November on I plan to go to the beautiful Toronto back to live there for a whole year, not only for a summer (as it was the past summers in the USA). Of course I'll be also working :-) Ideally somewhere in my IT section, but after reading numerous blog posts and Facebook pages I know that the internationals are mostly hired to work in restaurants or resorts to help out without any chance for carrier. Right now I'm still staying positive with my sight of success. Maybe the reality is going to be different but let's stick to what I have now - Still waiting on my visa!
